The studio screen. A story about a little dragon named Doris is typed in a notebook while the stage above shows a knight, the dragon breathing fire and a wizard in front of a castle.

How it works

Every word does something.

Bobwalks on stage jumpedleaps up high and kickedflying kick! the robot.a robot appears and goes tumbling. POW!

  1. Name someone

Write “a knight named Walter” and a stick-figure knight walks on stage, helmet and all, in a marker color of their own.

  2. Say what happens

Run, jump, flip, punch, dance, hug, cast spells, breathe fire, fall asleep. Over 40 hand-animated moves play the moment you type them.

  3. Add the drama

Words in quotes pop up as speech bubbles, faces show how everyone feels, and a big “BOOM!” shakes the whole stage.

When you're done writing

Press play.

Sit back in the theater. The curtains open and your whole story plays from the beginning like a cartoon, with subtitles, at whatever speed you like.

Every story you write is saved on your shelf, ready for an encore.

The theater on iPad. Red curtains frame a blueprint stage where Bob kicks a giant robot with a big WHAM, above the subtitle: Bob jumped and kicked the robot.

Dragons? Robots? A dog named Steve?

Anything you can imagine.

People, kids, giants, dragons, monsters, robots, aliens, ghosts, dogs, cats and birds. Horses, lions, elephants, giraffes and dozens more animals get sketched in too. Write about a teapot that comes alive and it sprouts stick arms and legs.

Hand-drawn stages.
